Orchestra

              Chamber Orchestra

            Students perform advanced literature and guest artists are often featured with the Chamber

                           Orchestra.  Recent repertory has included Mozart's Haffner Symphony, Charles Ives The

             Unanswered Question, and Aaron Copland's Suite from Appalachian Spring.

                Orchestra

            This advanced orchestra performs major orchestral literature and often features guest

                          artists.  Recent guest artists have included Dora Schwarzberg, violinist from the Vienna Academy

            of Music and Roop Verma, sitarist and composer of a concerto for sitar and orchestra.

Wind Ensemble

This band presents repertoire at an advanced level and provides an excellent opportunity for students to perform with counselors, teaching assistants, and faculty members.  Repertory covered includes standards as well as transcriptions of orchestra works.  Students are generally seated 1-2 on a part in the wind ensemble tradition and are thus challenged to perform at the highest level.

Jazz Orchestra

This advanced level ensemble showcases students performing alongside counseling staff, faculty and guest artists in advanced level jazz orchestrations. Provides practical experience for students interested in the professional world of jazz performance.

 

 

Jazz Combos

These small ensembles provide students of any level with opportunities to develop their improvisational skill.

 

Chamber Music

              Chamber music challenges students to explore new literature, develop their musical skills, and

              collaborative abilities.  Chamber ensembles include those for brass, woodwinds, strings and piano. 

              The Experimental Music Ensemble challenges students to explore the innovations of the 20th and 21st

              centuries while student initiated groups such as the  Brazilian Batucada and the Salsa Band allow

              students a chance to try their hand at world music.

Voice

Chamber Choir

This select choral ensemble is for advanced singers and performs challenging repertory from the Middle Ages to the 20th century.

 

 

 

Festival Choir

This large choir is required for all students and counselors. This ensemble performs a variety of standard choral music including major works of the choral repertoire. The Festival Choir is the final ensemble to perform during each session and is the culminating performing group of each session.

 

 

 

 

 

Musical Theatre Workshop

 

 

Designed for vocalists and instrumentalists who seek experience in musical theatre.  Repertory includes original theatre works written by students as well as Broadway revues
